Unique museums are dotted in the Hakone area and let you experience the art. You can have a blissful time for refreshing in the hot spring town of long history after taking a walk of the day. Souvenirs are available to pick up in shops in front of Hakone-yumoto Station, where items unique to Hakone are sold, including wooden mosaic work of traditional handcrafts and other goods related to a hot spring. Odawara Joshi Koen (Odawara Castle Park)
*The castle tower is closed toward end of April in 2016 due to seismic reinforcing work.
This Odawara Castle Park is established centering on the main enclosure of the castle with its castle tower, and is a tourist spot of No.1-popularity known as a place of plum and cherry blossoms in spring. You can wear consumes of bushi (warrior), ninja (professional spy) or princess in “ninja kacchu kitsuke taiken (ninja armor dress-up studio)” and take souvenir photographs with a view of the castle. About 320 of cherry trees excellently blossom in cherry blossom season, from end of March to beginning of April.

Chokoku-no-mori Museum (The Hakone Open-Air Museum)
This is an open-air museum in the mother nature of Hakone. About 120 masterpieces of representative engravers in early modern and modern times are permanently exhibited in the lushly green garden of 70,000 m2 on a background view of mountains of Hakone.
You can touch art in your own way while poring favorite works or taking a comfortable walk. There are five in-door exhibition halls including Picasso Hall which exhibits more than 300 world-leading collections successively.
Also, there is a foot bath of natural hot spring. You can try it and have a blissful time of relaxation in the broad garden providing an excellent landscape.

The museum collects 9,500 works in total of western pictures as well as those of drawn in Japan, Japanese-style pictures, wood cut works, oriental china and porcelain, glass works, and various make-up sets of all times and places. The concept of the museum is “symbiosis of art and nature in Hakone” and so, the building is constructed to be harmonized with surrounding woods by such as using glass in many places in the museum. In the exhibition hall, lighting by means of optical fiber is applied to reproduce an atmosphere of “evening of Paris in July”, so that works of impressionism can be appreciated more lovely.

Hakone Garasu-no mori Museum (Venetian Glass Museum)
This is a museum specialized in Venetian grass first in Japan located in Hakone Sengokuhara, which is a place with rich green. When you cross over a wooden bridge and step forward, there appears the “Venetian Glass Museum”, a replication of the past Venetia admired as “Adrian Princess”. Venetian grass widely excited European nobility in the period from 1400-1700 is the most regrettable works of prominent technique. Enjoy finest brilliance of the glass works to the full.

LALIQUE MUSEUM , HAKONE traces a life of Rune Lalique, a representative French jewelry and glass crafts artist. The museum is waiting for you by exhibiting luxurious collections of creative jewelry which represents art nouveau and refined glass works such as bottles of perfume. Hakone-yumoto Onsen (Hot Spring)
In the Hakone-yumoto hot spring area having a history of 1,200 years, there are a number of old-established hotels. As this area is located close to the Hakone-yumoto Station, you can visit here easily and a one-day trip is possible. There are various ways to enjoy the hot spring, for example, an open-air hot spring filled with green, esthetic massage service or relaxation with dinner after taking bath in the same place. Try to find out your favorite place of hot spring. As quality of the hot spring of Hakone-yumoto Onsen is simply alkaline to be gentle to your skin, and it is colorless/transparent and tasteless/odorless to be popular to many visitors.
Lake Ashi
This district surrounding Lake Ashi is a resort area which provides excellent holidays to you. You can enjoy a landscape of vast extended lake and Mt. Fuji using sightseeing boats and a rope way. Hakone sekisho-ato (barrier ruins), Hakone-jinja (shrine) and Kyukaido (old highway) are popular as places of local history exploration and leading power spots in Kanto area. Hakone-yumoto Ekimae Shotengai (Hakone-yumoto Station front Shopping District)
A variety of souvenirs are sold in this shopping district very close to Hakone-yumoto Station. About 50 shops deal with marine products, wooden mosaic work of traditional handcrafts, delicious cakes and other items, and crowed with domestic and foreign tourists. Onsen Manju (bun with a sweet bean-jam filling containing spring water) is a regular item; try it! One of popular items as a souvenir is bathing powder or soap with which you can reproduce atmosphere of hot spring at your home.
