Shuri Castle
Shuri Castle was proud of dignity as a core of politics, diplomacy and culture of the Kingdom of Ryukyu. The main temple emerging after passing through several awesome castle gates is the largest building structure of the Ryukyu Kingdom. The unique architectural style in which Chinese and Japanese fortification culture are integrated and stone masonry technique are said to have high cultural/historical value so the castle has been registered as the world’s cultural heritage. Besides, the garden is dotted with various cultural assets including Syurei-Mon (tower gate), Sonohyan-utaki Ishimon (stone gate) and Enkakuji temple remains.

Naha-shi Dento Kogeikan (Traditional Artifice Museum)
Naha-shi Dento Kogeikan is a museum where Naha’s traditional crafts such as “Ryukyu Bingata (textile dyeing),” “Tuboya-yaki (ceramics),” “Ryuikyu Glass,” “Shuri-ori (textile fabrics)” and “Ryukyu Shikki (lacquerware)” are lined up. These traditional crafts were born from nature and climate of Okinawa, and consummated through interaction with foreign countries and its own dynastic culture. There are a special exhibit room where excellent pieces of traditional crafts are displayed, a sales corner which have a large assortment of high quality crafts that can be an acceptable gift to everyone as a memento, and an experience-based craft center where visitors can make their own original works.

Makishi Kosetsu Ichiba (Public Market)
After the Okinawa War in the World War II, the old town of Okinawa was requisitioned by the US occupation troops. This market was established by the Naha city administration as a countermeasure against a black market dealing with smuggled goods initiated in this area of Naha-shi.
A few minutes’ walk through the arcade over the Ichiba Hondori (market main street) located in the central part of the Kokusai-dori will lead you to the Daiichi Makishi Kosetsu Ichiba which is busy and prosperous every day with a great many tourists other than residents. The ground floor is for fresh beef, fish and vegetable corners, and the 2nd floor is for restaurants where you can taste sea food using fresh fish you bought in the ground floor.

Kokusai-dori
The Kokusai-dori (International Street) called “the miracle one-mile” with the whole length of about 1.6km is a shopping street becoming a symbol of Okinawa. Okinawa made a remarkable comeback from the destroyed land by fire of the World War II. Currently, this street is one of major sightseeing areas of Okinawa gathering many tourist. The street is line with a number of stores including duty-free shops and restaurants where you can enjoy Ishigaki-gyu (beef) and Aguu-buta (pork).
