This is a tourism course that is full of interesting experiences that only Okinawa can provide! Not only will the course enable you to enjoy tourist attractions in such as the Mihama American Village (shopping area), Churaumi Aquarium, Kourijima (sightseeing area), Kokusai-dori (shopping street) and Shurijo Castle, but you can also enjoy a complete shopping experience at each facility including duty free shops. This course enables you to experience making of hand craft items in experience-based tourist facilities, and making of Okinawa Soba (Okinawa local noodle) or Kokuto (brown sugar; produced through the process of boiling in a evaporator). You can also try Karate (a method of self-defense) and to create a Ryukyu glassware.

Mihama American Village
It takes about 40 minutes by car from the Naha Airport. A big Ferris wheel located in the middle part of Okinawa Main Island is a land mark of this urban resort shopping area. Replicating a townscape of the West Coast of the United States, there are hotels and commercial facilities in a huge tract of area containable about 5 units of the Tokyo Dome. These facilities face beautiful beaches where you can see the sunset scene. In American Village, you can enjoy meals, shopping, movies and so on. Street performances sometimes are seen, and it is an area filled with entertainments performed all day and all night.

Murasaki Mura (Theme Park)
There are 32 workshops with 101 experience programs in this theme park, “Taiken Okoku Murasaki Mura”, of about 1 hour from Naha by car. Find your favorite programs from those of craft making, Okinawa soba making and Chinsuko (Okinawan cookies) making. Okinawa Karate (a method of self-defense) experience program and a program for diving with whale shark are also available. As this Park is unique and rich in a variety of programs, all visitors from aged adults to young children can have an enjoyable day. The Zakimigusuku castle ruins that were registered as a World Heritage, Yachimun no Sato, a pottery village and Zanpa Misaki (Cape) famous in its beautiful sunset scene are all close by.

Churaumi Aquarium
Located 2 hours by car from Naha-shi on the north of mainland Okinawa. In one of the world’s largest tank that was created to mirror the Okinawan sea, the whale shark and the manta can be seen. You can also see tropical fish and deep sea fish. Many sea creatures that you can only see here are exhibited. There is an outdoor dolphin show and other various programs that can be experienced for free. There is something for all members of a family.

Kouri Island
Kouri Island is located in the north of mainland Okinawa, and is surrounded by the sea water that has optical clarity. Since the opening of the Kouri-Ohashi Bridge it has become a popular drive course for visitors. The emerald sea spreads out on both sides of the bridge, giving you a feeling that you are driving on the sea. The “Heart Rock”, which means a heart-shaped rock is on Tinu bay on the northern part of the island. It was made famous through a TV commercial film, because the rock formed of tow rocks is looked like a heart when viewing from a certain direction

Kokusai Dori
The Kokusai-dori (International Street) called “the miracle one-mile” with the whole length of about 1.6km is a shopping street becoming a symbol of Okinawa. Okinawa made a remarkable comeback from the destroyed land by fire due to the World War II. Currently, this street is one of major sightseeing areas of Okinawa gathering many tourists. The street is lined with a number of stores including duty-free shops and restaurants where you can enjoy Ishigaki-gyu (beef) and Aguu-buta (pork).

Daiichi (the first) Makishi Kosetsu Ichiba (Public Market)
After the Okinawa war in the World War II, the old town of Okinawa was requisitioned by the US army. This market was established by the Naha city administration as a countermeasure against a black market dealing with smuggled goods initiated in this area of Naha-shi.
In these days, a few minutes’ walk through the arcade over the Ichiba Hondori (market main street) located in the central part of the Kokusai-dori will lead you to the Daiichi (the first) Makishi Kosetsu Ichiba which is busy and prosperous every day with a great many tourists other than residents. The ground floor is stores of fresh beef, fish and vegetables, and the 2nd floor is for restaurants where you can taste sea food using fresh fish you bought in the ground floor.

Shurijo Castle
Shuirjo Castle played a key role as a center for politics, diplomacy and culture during the age of the Ryukyu Kingdom. The Shoden (main building) that appears after you walk through many of the impressive castle gates is the largest construction of the age of the Ryukyu Kingdom. Due to the unique style of buildings based on the combination of the castle construction culture of China and Japan, and the masonry technique, it was registered as a World Heritage owing to its high cultural and historical values. Inside the facility, there are several cultural assets such as Shureimon (gate), Sonohyan-utaki-ishimon (stone gate) and Enkakuji temple ruins.

Seifa-Utaki (Holy Place)
In Seifa-Utaki which had been recognized as a highest ranked holy place in the age of Ryukyu (the ancient kingdom located in Okinawa-ken), national festivals were held in those days. Due to its long history, Seifa-Utaki was registered as a World Heritage. The innermost spot “Sangui” having the triangle-shaped space formed by two stalactites is still used as a sacred place to pray. Tradition says that kings of the Ryukyu visited Sangui and admired the view across the west towards Kudaka Island. Even today, many people worship Seifa-Utaki as the “Agari Umai”, to hand down the event of a circuit pilgrimage to the sacred places that used to be conducted by kings of Ryukyu and Kikoe Okimi.

Ryukyu Garasu-mura (Glassware Center)
People in Okinawa reused glass bottles discard by the U.S. army after the War to make Ryukyu Glassware. The unique, distinctive appearance stems from the imperfections found in the glass itself, and its rich palette of colors and a feel of a material turned this into Okinawa’s artisan specialty. In Ryukyu Garasu-mura, a variety of glassware are produced, displayed and sold, and visitors can enjoy making their own piece of Ryukyu glassware in the workshop. Tthere is also a restaurant in the facility.

Ashibina (Outlet Mall)
This outlet mall at the southernmost tip of Japan is located in the convenient site within 15 minutes from Naha Airport by car, and provides you with pleasure of shopping and eating even in a short time during the Okinawan sightseeing or waiting time for going on board. You can select well-known Japanese and foreign brand items among a variety of goods in shops of more than 100 including many duty-free shops.
